National Pawn, a pawn business with nineteen stores throughout Triangle and Wilmington, NC, released a press release in June 2012 that announced that two Wake County high school students had been recipients of its 2012 National Pawn scholarships.
And another in December 2020 announcing the largest donation in Musical Empowerment’s 18-year history.
The Stallcup Group team was impressed with two things about these announcements.
1. We were impressed that National Pawn took the initiative to contribute to its community in a positive, somewhat out-of-the-box way (Kudos!). If more independent pawn businesses were to engage in making similar contributions, the reputation of the pawn industry at large would improve and ultimately benefit all pawn industry professionals.
2. We were impressed that National Pawn turned its community contribution into a press release that increased its visibility. We realize that many busy pawn shop owners have limited time and resources, and that it can be difficult for them to develop extensive publicity campaigns, but taking the time to distribute well-written and well-timed press releases throughout the year can be a relatively easy and inexpensive way for pawn shops to gain valuable exposure.
Contributing to your community in positive ways isn’t just a good thing to do; it’s good business. If you publicize key partnerships and community contributions in smart, cost-effective ways, you can increase the visibility of your pawn business, improve your business’s reputation, gain new customers, and ultimately, increase the value of your business.
